Hair Aid

Cartoon Cuts has partnered with Hair Aid, to help villagers in Southeast Asia find a pathway out of poverty. Over the past couple of years, Cartoon Cuts has raised over $10,000 for this wonderful cause.

As Hair Aid volunteers, hairstylists teach a five-day haircutting course, enabling trainees to start a micro-business.

Training can be under a tree or on a basketball court – wherever there is space and people willing to learn. In five days, the locals learn five basic haircuts. With their newfound skills, and the tools that we donate, the locals can go on to open their own micro-businesses – even on the side of a road – to start earning money to feed their children. To date, Hair Aid has trained over 3,700 people.

We participate in the Annual Hair Aid Global Cut-A-Thon.  Each year, on the day of the Cut-A-Thon, Cartoon Cuts donates $5.00 for every haircut.

In addition, periodically, Cartoon Cuts raises funds for various Hair Aid endeavors.

In 2019/2020, Cartoon Cuts sent two of its own stylists as participants in the program.  According to Myrna (the Philippines)  and Yael (Thailand), “The experience was life-changing, not just for the women we helped, but for us, as well.”
